In a saved group Chrome browser last session tabs duplicating at each group start

Groupy 2 and Chrome Browser Problem

Hi everybody, as mentioned in the title my problem is:

You all know chrome can restore all the open tabs in the last session. When I add Chrome to a Groupy group and save it, in the next start the opened tabs in chrome are being duplicated and it goes on goes on. I have to close 1 or 2 other opened same sets in the Chrome. It is annoying.

Is there anybody having this situation and found any solution? Or needs an update from the Stardock Developers?

PS: I had read another tread in the forum about same bug but I cannot make use of the solution mentioned there.

Thank you in advance!

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe to get these numbers.
  2. Groupy full version number.
  3. Issue happen when Chrome not running in the background?

1- Windows 11 , Version 25H2 , OS Build 26200.7019

2- Groupy 2 version : 2.3.0.2

3-Not sure what do you mean. As usual, closing the group. Also were closing the browser before groupy. Never checked background tasks.

Thank you for your interest..

I do see the extra page/s get open when you set Chrome to "continue where you left off" turn on. Not really sure if Groupy can block Chrome from doing what it set to do. However, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their review. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience. Thank you.

While waiting, perhaps you can point us to the thread you're referring here. And, the reason you can not use the solution.

Can you detail what issues you are having trying this solution?

Oh sorry, I had replied your message but somehow it did not show up here. Maybe I forgot to use "Post Reply" button.

I've said that; thinking about the solution the other way is better. I do not prefer Stardock blocking Chrome feature. Instead it should not create the pages again. Keep the window as it is in the group.

The post was this:

It needs some developer knowledge I guess, which is not for me.

Thank you I missed this post. Talking about same method but more clear. Let me check and post the result.

I am afraid this situation has to be handled on Stardock side. I tried to edit the group file.

I have 5 entries in the group.

  • 1-Click Up
  • 2-Any.do
  • 3-Chrome - Profile
  • 4-Chrome - Work Profile
  • 5-CAD software

It worked for the Chrome but this time my other application (1 and 2) tabs are opened out of the group. I have to drag them into group window again.

If I save as the group again, it goes to the beginning and starts duplicating.

Now I remember , when I tried editing this file accordingly the post I mentioned here, it corrupted the process and I had to save a group from the beginning. That's why I could not make use of the solution.
