My gaming experience

Hi!

Unfortunately, the game gets really boring after three hours. There's practically nothing to do. I played against four enemy factions. They didn't even try to bring me to my knees. Occasionally, one faction would nip at me. And that's it! After three hours, 90% of all the technologies were researched. I had built up a maximum fleet. I just had to methodically capture the remaining planets. This problem is most common on maps with a large number of opposing factions. They're fighting, but for some reason they're afraid to touch me. New technologies could be added, but the game already has about 600 technologies that you're planning to optimize. Most likely, the game is still poorly balanced in various aspects. Something needs to be done about this. New game mechanics and new victory conditions could improve the situation.

I'm playing on Nightmare difficulty. Why do I get bored after three hours? Because I know my fleet, consisting only of capital ships, command ships, and a titan, is unstoppable. Therefore, I recommended redistributing the fleet's supply points accordingly. Either they should be divided equally between light and heavy ships, or the AI fleet should be designed accordingly at different difficulty levels. Let's say at the highest difficulty level, the AI fleet should be 90% capital and command ships. But the first approach is better.

I think both DLCs (Paths to Power and Reinforcements) have introduced so much potential fun to the game with the Scenarios and the Factional Victories, but in my opinion these features are still a bit lacking in the current state. Maybe after the final DLCs are launched we can look forward to having everything perfected.

There are tools in the game to resolve that unstoppable fleet issue like AOE ultimate abilities (malice, missile barrage), dominating deliverance, safety override protocol, novaliths, phase jump inhibitors, starbases, titans/command ships, factional victory. But they require intelligent strategy by humans to make as effective counters to massive fleets.

Even with effective use of such tools, the only way of defeating certain late game fleets is by not allowing other players/factions to reach that point altogether... If you have reached the point of having an unstoppable fleet, it's time to finish that specific round by crushing the AI.

Sometimes the fun in SOASE it's not about the goal but about the journey.

Unique technologies are what keep things interesting. Vasari's phase gate technology once saved me. TEC decided to take over my planet by sending their entire fleet to me. I detected them at a distance of two phase jumps. They were constantly at war with other factions and had become much more experienced. Their ships were upgraded to the sixth level. From the beginning of the game, I took a defensive position and began to develop the economy. Accordingly, my ships were inexperienced. I didn't have a chance. I restarted the game repeatedly. Nothing helped me. They were unwavering in their determination to annihilate me. The opposing faction's home planet was in another star system. I had no colonized planets in the other star system. How did I manage to get there very quickly and eventually win? Who helped me?|-)
