Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build numbers. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences full version number installed.
  3. What popup error come up when you tried to create any new Fence?

Thank you,

Hi

See printscreen.

WinVer

It is Apparently a mousepad problem. With a normal mouse it works. That's no complete solution. Mouse pad still doesn't work.

I am confused. So the issue is resolved, yes? New mouse pad?

okay, not sure why you mentioned the mousepad in the first place.

Moving forward, is this your first Fences installed? Did you ever have any other version installed previously? Do you have somehow locked your Fences previously and forget to unlocked it?

Have you checked on this setting? If you don't see this setting, perhaps you can try this to make Lock Fences appear in your desktop right click menu: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1621360668/Show+%22Lock+Fences%22+in+Fences+5

To clarify your mouse pad on your laptop does not work, but if you plug in an actual mouse into your laptop it does work.

This is not normal behavior because you can create the mouse drag box with either. Are you having a left click issue on your mouse pad that isn't allowing you to create the drag box? My only other guess would be if your mouse pad sensitivity was really high and broke the drag box before you could click to make a new fence

The pad works fine. but not for creating fences.

If you double tab it must works like holding shift but not for fences Windows function. For selecting files all is ok

Interesting, it is specific to your setup because I can create fences just fine using my touch pad.

So you have no problem creating a rectangle drag box?

When you do; does the "create fence" option simply not show, or does the entire drag box disappear on you?

I would check your touchpad settings to make sure they are correct. You can just search touchpad settings in your search bar to get there

These are the default settings

"tap twice and drag" is exactly what you will want to do and make sure is check marked to create a drag box and fence

I don't have Surface 7 to test this issue. But, perhaps trying changing this option.
