Update window

Update window still appearing even after turning it off

Hello, I turned off automatic checking for updates but the window announcing new updates is still displayin. Extremely annoying to get this in the middle of movie watching. Why is it like that? How to actually disable it? All I want to is preserve my current working version (2.53) and just be happy with it. Thank you.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please be more specific. Which software was you referring to? Start11v2.53? or something else?

Sorry, yes, Start11v2.53. It is just popping up randomly and since that computer is mainly for watching movies or presentations, It usually pops up in the worst situations.

You should be able to turn off update check by turning off these switch.

You may need to reboot after changing that.

Ok, thanks, that might be the problem, I only hibernate my PC. But like... Why on Earth should I reboot the whole computer to just apply some simple app setting?

That question should be directed to Microsoft. The Windows registry needs to be reloaded for the new setting to take effect and a reboot is the only way to be sure that is done.

Restarting explorer would also do the trick.
