Missing icons and invalid links in Start11 Vers. 2.53

I'm using Start 11 and the current versions of Windows 10. There are no problems with the Windows 7 and Modern styles, all icons are displayed and all links work. But I have problems with all other styles. Many program icons are not displayed and the links don't work. Any ideas?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. If you try pinning it using these steps does it work?

  1. Right click on empty Group area
  2. Select New->Pin installed App->Select "Core temp" from the list of installed App

Something like screenshot below.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. When I do this, nothing happens; the app isn't pinned. I can only pin apps with icons, not all the others. I think this tool is great. Please help me make it work.

Perhaps it was not install properly. Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Basj, thank you very much for your patience. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. I think the problem is that Windows can't successfully execute the shell:appsfolder command. However, the standard Windows menu works correctly.

Looking into your screenshot, its looking that from the application list, some of the application don't get proper icon next to it. Perhaps something else is causing your issue. Try solving those issue first. Look into your default Windows start panel do you see all those icons listed?

Everything is definitely fine with the standard Windows Start menu. All icons are displayed correctly. The problem only occurs with Start 11. Except when I select the Win7 or modern style in Start11, both of which are fine.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I cleaned up Start 11 using the tool as instructed and then reinstalled it. Unfortunately, the problem with the missing icons persists. I'm going crazy.  :-(

Would like to suggest few things.

  1. Please try rebuild Icon cache: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/rebuild-icon-cache-in-windows-11.2049/
  2. Check your system by using SFC /scannow and DISM https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/topic/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system-files-79aa86cb-ca52-166a-92a3-966e85d4094e

Please try these steps and report back.

I've tried all of these steps. Unfortunately, nothing has changed and the problem hasn't been resolved. The error message indicates that Windows can't find the path shell:AppsFolder... As a result, it can't read the icons of the .exe files and displays an error message. For the same reason, the application can't be opened. I don't think the problem is with the icon cache, but rather with the link pointing to shell:AppsFolder... What's strange is that the problem only occurs with shortcuts located in a folder.

What happens when you open the Shell:AppsFolder?

Open RUN (Win+R) and enter C:\Windows\explorer.exe Shell:AppsFolder

Do the icons for the problem apps appear correctly?

If you do a test install in Windows Sandbox do you see the issue while in there?

Report back.

Also, would like to suggest to try cleanboot: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1334935592/Start11+Clean+Boot

I've now completely reinstalled Windows 10, and now Start 11 is working as it should. Apparently, there was a problem with Windows. The only thing I've noticed is that a few icons are very small.
