Releasing Start11 v2.55 with Taskbar, Translation and Other Improvements

Update is now rolling out

Today we are shipping an update for Start11 v2 that delivers a number of enhancements and bug fixes. The update is rolling out now, and it can also be downloaded from your Stardock account page.

The changelog for this release is lengthy and is worth a review but the highlights include improvements to vertical taskbar experiences and a significant update for thumbnail display resiliency, especially on multi-monitor devices.

New in this release is an option to auto-hide taskbars only when a window is placed over them, the scroll wheel now supports scrolling a vertical taskbar when full, and we added an alias for Remote Desktop to surface when searching RDP. There is also updated support for apps like Spotify and WhatsApp badges to show correctly on multi-monitor devices as well.

The changes in this release are mostly focused on polish as we continue to refine all the edge cases for taskbar of various configurations outside of the primary display. There are also improvements to memory usage to help keep a high level of performance when running the application for extended periods of time.

Translations have also been updated but if you see anything that isn’t quite right, please let us know.

If you have not received the update yet, you can search for it by opening the configuration panel, click About, and there you will see the option to download the update. And if you run into any issues or want to connect with other Start11 users, our forums are filled with questions (and answers) about how to get the most out of this powerful application.

While all this glitter maybe true, there is a problem with the new version (2.55). When I update from the previous version 2.53, Windows 11 did not function properly. When I tried to open the Network folder, it opened as a blank and it took 10-20 seconds to fill icons and network locations. Once I uninstaller Start 11 everything worked fine. Re-installing created the same issue. So, it is no longer on my PC. I would like to get the v 2.53 installer to re-install that version because it worked fine. Strongly recommend to pass on this version until bugs are worked out.

The new hide when maximized or overlapping is a godesend but i would really like to have te option for overlapping alone as that would better fit my usage, as it stands now i must resize my windows without maximizing if i want my taskbar on my main display to be visible while the taskbar on my secondary is hidden, otherwise a very good step in the right direction.

After updating Windows 11 to build 26200.6899 (KB5066835), Start11 got broken again :'(

I'm using one monitor in portrait mode (rotated counter clockwise), and another in landscape mode, but when I set the taskbar on the  landscape monitor to vertical, the taskbar on the portrait monitor gets broken.

Uninstall Start11, reboot.  Download the very latest version of Start11.
