No seamless after update

So I updated my 2 computers the other day and I didn't check it right away but upon trying to use Multiplicity the window comes up saying unable to connect. It also states that it appears the primary and secondary are 2 different versions, which isn't true. The only thing updated was my windows 10 Home 22H2 Build 1904.6216. This is where it gets odd. I tried the test connection and it is stating that is able to successfully connect, upon further testing... These are 2 windows 10 computers that get updates roughly the same time as each other, I don't always reboot them at the same time. Secondary computer is 22H2 Pro Build 19045.6216.

The funny thing I just found when trying to diagnose this as I had to have both keyboards and mice on my desk, I switched my secondary monitor over to HDMI mode(secondary computer) and I was moving my Primary mouse around and noticed it was working my secondary computer and was confused. I can move my Primary computers mouse from my primary computer and move it all the way to the right and it moves into my secondary computer after passing by both the primary and alternate screen.. so.. technically multiplicity is "working".. just not as intended? Reminds me of our HD KVM's at work with computers on different networks but PC's are plugged into the hardware kvm's. I checked firewall of windows and its all open on both machines. There was a point where it was saying the encryption keys were different but that has gone away. While its nice that I can actually control both computers with one mouse/keyboard, having to switch the inputs around is annoying and kind of wastes the good thing about Multiplicity.

Hi bretsvoboda,

For file mismatch errors, if you check the following file path, can you first confirm the file version of the MultiplicityConfig file is exactly the same on both devices (properties -> details -> file version)?

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Multiplicity\MultiplicityConfig.exe

After doing so, please make sure the Multiplicity process itself is running on your Secondary PC (can check from taskbar and try restarting the Multiplicity process there).  If an issue remains, you could try reinstalling Multiplicity 4 (from your Stardock account) on both PCs and rebooting.  Doing this will help ensure you've downloaded and installed the same update and without any errors.

From there, you'll want to double check you've added the connection to your grid correctly, that the Multiplicity process is running on both the Primary and the Secondary computers, etc.

If you're still experiencing a problem from here, a more complete "purge" of all files can be done.  This should be the best way to ensure a complete removal of all files (such as anything lingering from a very old installation):

Again, you can double check you've added the connection to your grid correctly, that the Multiplicity process is running on both the Primary and the Secondary computers, etc.  If any specific settings changes seem to be causing the problem, please let us know what exactly you change from default settings that may be causing any trouble.

Please let us know if these suggestions help to resolve the issue.

So I decided to wipe it from both computers even though both were at the same versions as they were installed both together from the beginning. I also used the scruber batch file just in case. Rebooted and reinstall everything back again and it still operating in the same way. No Window to control the program but I can drag my mouse across my second monitor area and it appears on the Multiplicity controlled secondary computer.

So now I am a little confused. I could have sworn I was using seamless before now I am not sure. I have gotten this to now work in KVM mode. Since I purged everything I don't know. It seems to be working find in KVM mode now though.
