Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Just to be clear, you did restart your system after the install, yes? And, you did apply a theme, but nothing happen to the system after apply at all? If yes, to both, please reply back with more details on your system.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe to get this numbers.
  2. You did get the Windowblinds to activate for the 30 days trial?
  3. Do you have any other application running that changed your explorer or OS Shell?

Thank you,

Please try the following:

-For Win11 Users: Open the Start Screen, and type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator' from below.

-Type: sfc /scannow

-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

If the SFC finds errors, but cannot fix them, please also run the following command in the same command prompt window:

dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Some help on how this looks should you need it:

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image

The above command should assist with replacing any damaged or problematic system files. Please note, however, since it may require restoring certain files, this process can take some time and you will need to be patient until it has completed.

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

also the website says create a new admin account do i have to do that if my main account is already admin?

Yes, you need to create a new admin account, this is to ensure that you test Cleanboot with a new fresh admin account. You can revert back to your old one once the test it done.

okay so i ran into some problems getting a cleanboot setup, avg antivirus wasnt disabling in the processes, also i didnt know whether windowblinds should be disabled or not so i just disabled it aswell, i ended up uninstalling avg antivirus and when i restarted my pc and opened the cleanboot account then tried running the .bat file called wbstart i got error code 1058, i then manually opened windowblinds and it still didnt work when i applied the theme or whatever its called. i also tried enabling windowblinds in the services in msconfig but this was prior to me uininstalling avg antivirus and it still didnt work, is there anything else i can try?

Did you actually created a new Admin account. From what I understand, you should not need to disable Windowblinds and your AV for the cleanboot steps.

also when i had tried using a theme on windowblinds after getting cleanboot setup fully(or atleast i think i did) i got some error message saying something about eset antivirus could be messing with it if i have it installed(i do not) and something about how windowblinds was apparently missing some files(i dont think it said that exactly but i do not remember) and it asked me if i wanted it to fix the installation, i clicked yes then it closed the popup and presumably fixed something but as per usual it didnt work(im starting to think my pc is just ass)

i believe so, theres a new account on my pc that i had to setup and give admin perms

EDIT: when i enabled windowblinds in msconfig services i didnt get the error code but it told me it was opened, although it didnt open the application directly(if it was supposed to)

Ah, you have ESET anti virus, sorry, I should have asked about it earlier. Please try these steps to make Windowblinds work with system with ESET antivirus. https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1326579735/WindowBlinds+states+that+%E2%80%9CWindowBlinds+is+not+installed+correctly+on+this+PC%22

Perhaps looking into your Windows defender HIPS setting:

Windows Defender's Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) is a feature that monitors system activity and blocks or allows actions based on predefined rules, similar to how a firewall operates. It's designed to protect against malware and unauthorized access by analyzing events within the operating system. You can configure HIPS settings, including rule creation and filtering modes, within the Windows Security app or through Group Policy.

Here's a breakdown of how to manage Windows Defender's HIPS: Accessing HIPS Settings:
  • Windows Security App: Navigate to Virus & threat protection > Manage settings > HIPS settings (or similar wording depending on your Windows version).

Group Policy (for advanced users): Use Group Policy Editor to configure HIPS settings under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Defender Antivirus.

Key HIPS Components:
  • Rules: HIPS relies on rules to determine what actions to allow or block. These rules can be customized to target specific processes, applications, or network connections.

  • Filtering Modes: You can choose different filtering modes, such as "Ask user" (requires admin approval for changes), "Allow," or "Deny".
Learning Mode: Some HIPS implementations may offer a learning mode where the system observes activity and suggests rules before enforcing them.
