All apps being grouped into one group

No longer seperating into seperate groups

Hi There,

I have noticed this issue recently.

When I launch and any app they are now all loading into the one group, which I did not happen before and is not what I want.

This includes both Microsoft apps and independent ones.

Edition    Windows 11 Enterprise
Version    23H2
Installed on    ‎25/‎03/‎2025
OS build    22631.5624
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1106.0

Groupy: 2.2

Thanks
Vincent

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please check your Grouping Rules especially "Automatic window grouping" and "Custom rules".

Thank you,

Hi Basj,
I have tried different options for grouping rules, but still the same.
At the moment I have all switched off.

Thanks.
V.

When all that option turn off, the issue disappear?

Thanks for the suggestion.
I created a blank rule, but still it automatically adds a new app to the current window

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I think you misunderstood.

Creating a new blank rule causes all windows to be grouped together.

Sorry, I did miss understand.
I have also tried without any custom rules and the problem persists

Do the purge and reinstall as Basj suggested in Reply #7

Hi pelaird and Basj,
I have done the purge and re-installed and once I removed the empty custom rule it seems to be working.
Thanks for your support.

have the same issue.

this Is annoying. not only is it grouping **ALL** new windows into a singe group automatically, its ignoring the rules I've set up to do so. while include apps block list.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Perhaps, you could elaborate more on your issue. What don't work and what actually your customs rules look like. It might be there are conflicts within your customs rules.

Thank you,

I've uninstalled, reinstalled with and without your purge.bat file.

tried switching block / allow application between [x] only allow specified apps with a list of 5 apps. of which are include in custom rules...

its doesn't matter which order these appear in apps are group into which ever random window they want to be.

if [ ] only allow specified apps is not toggle with a longer list app I dont want groupy to touch... they are anyway..

you #if logics seem way off, I'm giving groupy few rules with full paths or and "single.exe" to capture.

and this is cute but unusable.

Hello,
I am no good with Groupy rules. However, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience. Thank you.

If it is grouping everything then the rules will be triggering the issue.

Could you post the rules you are using exactly.
