August 2025 Desktop Screenshots

Moved to our new house...wasn't fully ready so...the adventure begins! No sinks, no faucets, and a few other minuses...pelaird is briefed and I'll probably be posting some fun pix through the month. Working on my W10 lappy and using MS Paint. Don't ask.

Here it is, A wallpaper from the web, W10 on my lappy and W10 at age 10 years (yesterday). WB: Alpha Nebula Premium by Nikos (adni18), Winstep docks Cyndie's Ultimate Clean from her WB by that name. Wish I could give you all a more imaginative screenie...but next month should be better. (Please hear me up there...). The meters are part of Advanced System Care (iobit)

You're welcome, my friend. And yeah, Kitty was one of the best. We need some fresh blood around here to contribute to the WB department. :waaaa:

After reading an article about a one way trip for 2,500 people to Alpha Centauri to colonize, I decided to make this composite wallpaper with the ship, its quantum transition field, the earth, moon and the Andromeda galaxy (obscured by the Start menus so I added a screenie)). The WB and Winstep are Evolve - the WB by BoXXi and Winstep by Winstep Technologies.

Well, our nearest star, after The Sun, is Proxima Centauri, which is only about 40 trillion km away, or 4.2 light years. If you traveled at light speed, it would take you just over 4 years to get there. Not bad at all! Now all we have to do is figure out how to build an LS engine, or better yet, an FTL drive! Nice screenie and wall, by the way!:digichet:

But my ship "travels" by quantum entanglement...thus simultaneity...and we have a long way before we achieve that. ;)

I should also have noted that I chose a space travel theme in honor of James Lovell, the Commander of the Apollo 13 mission, a true, quiet hero and pioneer who just passed on. v_v

I had no idea of his passing! Jim Lovell was a true hero, who missed out on his shot at the Moon, but amazingly helped get his crew safely back to Earth. R. I. P. Mr. Lovell. 😢

Don't feel badly Reaper, as I missed the announcements in the news as well.

Luckily, JanOscar saw the news and wrote about it here: https://forums.stardock.com/537973/page/1/#3975938

Thanks, naroon1!

That's the Winstep taskbar using "Evolve" which Danillo made for Jorge, I think.
