GalCiv IV Launcher Loop

Launcher > Play > Launcher >Play > Launcher ...

You get the idea. Downloaded the latest patch from Steam last night (7/27) and started game from Steam. This morning it wouldn't start from shortcut, from right-clicking file, nor from Steam. Confirmed files, deleted, reinstalled, it just keeps reloading the loader. 

Steam sent me here. Other Steam linked games work fine. Most were updated in the past week or so.

Hiya! Did you manage to get this fixed ? Kinda strange that it stopped working all of a sudden.

Had a problem where a previous game I was playing failed to close and this happened to me while I tried to verify files on exit.

Just closed Steam restarted and wonders of wonders the game worked and I was able to verify

Have yet to find a solution. The Launcher seems to call the launcher instead of the game.

This is really strange. Beside doing a File Verify on Steam, or trying to reinstall by first uninstalling and deleting (or at least renaming the folder to a new one can be created) everything in %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv4\ and \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations IV I'm not sure what could be causing this.
