Start11 Install Failure

Need to reinstall Start11 and install fails

I purchased Start11 about a month ago.  Absolutely LOVE it!!!! All was working great.  Then all of a sudden I was having some monitor issues while upgrading hardware.  This caused me to have to reboot a bunch of times without Windows shutting down properly.  When everything was back up an running, no more Start11 menus.  Back to useless Windows 11 Start button.  Nothing I could do would get it up and running again.  I get the brilliant idea that I should just reinstall. (I do actually have screenshots of the menus I had built). So I uninstalled and tried to reinstall.  The installation failed....

Yes, of course….  I went to that page and clicked, “The Stardock installer failed sent me here”  This sends me to a page with info about “Windows Controlled Folder Access” or “Ransomware protection”.  Both send me to very confusing tech pages that I have no idea what to do with.

I have no idea why I am being forced down this path now when I had no issues at all with my first installation

HELP!!!!!

.... and thanks!

Lloyd

Looking further, it does not appear that my uninstall worked appropriately as there is still a Stardock folder with a bunch of files in it in my "Program File (x86)" folder.  I get this error message at the same time I get the "We're sorry but the install has failed..." message.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, this might cause your system and/or Start11 get corrupted. Here a few steps you can try. Sorry if you already done it.

  1. Check your Windows system. Do "sfc /scannow" and "DISM" system check. Please google it, if you not sure how to do it.
  2. Try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation.

Retest and report back here.

I think I'm beyond that now as my initial Start11 installation is MOSTLY gone.  Windows is working fine now.  I think my problem may be that my old, not completely eliminated instance is causing my new installation to fail.

Then, please try the purge and reinstall steps. The purge part should removed all instances of Start11.

I tried the "purge" several times.  It hasn't helped.  I continue to get the exact same two error messages shown in original post when I try to reinstall after rebooting.  I looked into my "Program Files (x86)" folder and there is still a Stardock folder with files in it there - even after the "purge".

Here's an image of that folder.

If I go into Control Panel and the Programs submenu, Star11 does not show up as an application that can be uninstalled.

What do we try next??

If you do a manual delete that Start11 folder, does something block it? If not, try install it again once that folder removed. Report back.
