Black Screen

I've been noticing for some time now that very occasionally, and seemingly randomly, Deskscapes will show(or not show an image??) a 'Black Screen' instead of the next picture in the sequence.
I do have black as my default background colour and it's the colour that underlies less than full screen images.
My backgrounds cycle in sequence, not randomly, every one minute.
All images are .jpg at 100% quality.

Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details on your system.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe
  2. Deskscape full version number.
  3. Did you see if the issue only happen on specific background static or animate?
  4. Any specific timing or steps that surely make the issue appear?
  5. More details so we can try to reproduce the issue.

Thank you,

Hi basj,

1.) Windows 11 Version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.4484)
2.) Deskscapes 11.0.2
3.) I only use static .jpeg backgrounds in one playlist. The other playlist comprises of Stardock author static images from your site through Deskscapes.
4.) The occurrence of the black screen appears to be totally random. I've not be able to discern any sequence of events to cause this.
5.) I have no way to reproduce this random black screen.

This is not something that happens all of the time. I can go for days before I see another occurrence. The only thought I have is it might be related to the Playlist 'Add Folder'>>'Add folder contents and update for changes automatically' feature. However, when I have attempted to confirm this when a black screen happens, it doesn't seem to be directly connected to a recently added image.

I created both of my Playlists, the Stardock images and the .jpeg images, using this feature; however, I add images to the .jpeg folder more often than to the Stardock image folder.

If I get more info I'll add to this.

Cheers.

Do know that as far as I remember, there is no other report on this issue from others. Perhaps it something specifically in your system. Something might be blocking Deskscape from properly display specific wallpaper.

If you wish, to make sure Deskscape get install properly, you can try, uninstall Deskscape, reboot immediately (important), re-download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again.

Also, please try adjusting the quality vs performance setting and see if that help.

Thank you,

I already had that setting in place.

I made one change. Since I process my .jpeg images with ON1 Photo Raw I decided to try one step below the 'Best Quality' setting which includes smoothing processing with Deskscapes.
I set 'Regular Quality 1' and this is what the Settings App shows for that...

There is a glitch in the Settings App for the 'Regular Quality 1' setting. The other 'Quality Settings' positions have proper language for English.

So far, using the Stardock Images Playlist, this changing of the backgrounds by Deskscapes seems to be a bit snappier without Deskscapes doing smoothing processing.
I'll check the other Playlist after running the Stardock Images for a bit.

Cheers.

I can confirm this label issue. The en-us.lng file has the wrong text.
