Windowblinds not installed correctly message and I DON'T have ESET antivrus

I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the WindowBlinds application. Every time I try to apply a theme I get the error message popping up that it did not install correctly and offering to try to fix it, which answer yes to. No joy. Everything that I search for points to blaming ESET as an issue, but I don't have ESET installed on my system.

I've just bought a subscription to this today, and am not impressed with having to waste time trying to get any functionality whatsoever out of it.

Has anyone else figured this out?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. May I know more details on your system?

  1. Windows full version and OS build numbers. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Windowblinds version you're trying to use.
  3. Which anti-virus you have in your system and have you try disabling it as a test and see if that work. You can enable it back once you have done testing.

Thank you,

I also tried to use it after disabling Windows AV protection real-time, still the same resultant error. One thing that I can confirm is that my color mode changes from dark to "custom" during the failed attempt to apply Windowblinds themes.

I notice you're using Windows 11 Insider Preview Build, which is not supported. Please revert to Windows 11 24H2 official release version, retest it and report back.

For the issue with insider preview build, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their review. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thank you,
