Is Water Dream dead?

Took me a while, but I just noticed Water Dream is no longer listed in DeskScapes 11.  Is it no longer supported?  Will there be an updated version.  This was a very soothing background to have.

I believe it was replaced by "Liquid Dream" which is very similar.  You should have that listed.

similar... but not the same :(

Am I resting on a beach, or by a river? To each their own, I guess.

But is that it then, no more sandy beach liquid dream?

Weird thing is the thumbnail shows sand, and then the actual one shows river pebbles.

If you have a backup from when Water was installed you can restore it from there.  The default was C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Stardock\Dreams\Water Dream.Dream

You can also of course use any background ("Ground Image") you like with Liquid.

It's good to backup any dreams you're particularly fond of, there's no guarantee they'll always be out there.

It's still there.

Select "Liquid Dream," and then click "Settings." Use the "Ground Image" pull-down menu to select "Sand."

@pelaird

Ok now that is strange.  When I click on settings, it says "This dream has no user configurable settings".

Also I notice those settings are for Water Dream and not Liquid Dream, so I'm guessing it's not available in Liquid Dream.

@DaveRI Does anyone have Water Dream available, so I can download it from them?

I'm afraid that violates the rules, here.

DaveRI didn't author the dream, nor did anyone else who might have downloaded it except it's author...and no one but it's author has the right to distribute it.

It's listed as Liquid Dreams in the Installed-Animated Backgrounds.

Do you have DeskScapes 11.02?

Don't know what is going on???

I deleted the dreams from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\Dreams

Uninstalled Deskscapes, downloaded the recent version from Stardock.com and reinstalled it... And I 'm still getting the same error message of no configurable settings.  What the heck?!

Maybe it was included with DeskScapes 10. Do you have a license for DS10?

I upgraded from 10 to 11, so maybe that’s why it works for me.

Look here: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Do you have Deskscapes 10.02.0 and Deskscapes 11.0.2 listed? If not, pelaird might be correct in the reason.

Not sure what is going on, but, I did checked and that "water dream setting" windows appear on my Windows 10 system but on my Windows 11 VM system, the same "No setting provided" popup appear for me too. Not sure if its Windows 10/11 thing or something else. I checked both dream files on my Win 10 and Win 11, both are the same file.

Moving forward, have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Perhaps this is the reason. My Windows 10 is my main rig and it was running Deskscape 10 before upgrading to Desksape 11

Hi everyone, thanks for posting.

I was also able to reproduce the error message when clicking Settings for certain backgrounds in DeskScapes 11.

We now have it logged for review.

So, I uninstalled DeskScapes 11 deleted settings and removed all relevant folders. Downloaded the most recent installer, and installed. I still get the settings Options as posted in Reply #7.

Windows Pro - 23H2; 22631.5335   DeskScapes 11.0.2.0

Yes I did the same thing.

Uninstalled 11.02, downloaded and installed version 10 (I had the old product key), and Liquid Dream reappeared in:

\My Documents\Stardock\Dreams as LIQUIDDREAM.DREAM

I configured it, sand, droplet size, clouds, etc.

Uninstalled version 10, backed up the .dream file to another folder, just in case.

Reinstalled version 11, and there are now 2 liquid dreams showing in the app.  One in the public users folder and one in my documents folder.  When I select either one in version 11 and click the settings button, I get the old error, "This dream has no user configurable settings".

So version 11 reproduces the same error regardless of the dream file taken from version 10 or version 11 of DeskScapes.

But I was at least able to apply the animated wallpaper by double clicking the dream file from the folder within Windows Explorer.  It applied with settings I configured through version 10.

What version of Windows are you running?

Windows 11 Pro

Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100

Sorry for the delay, was away.

Deskscapes has not been updated since Adam replied that it had been logged.

Check in the Registry settings for Deskscapes and see if you find these. I believe these are created by the settings for Water (Liquid) Dream.

Thanks for the workaround.

Not sure what the unit values are though, nor the ranges?

I'll experiment until they update the software with this bug fix.
