Is the GC2 for OS/2 music available anywhere?

A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that music
Used to make me smile
And I went down to the Stardock store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the Frog there said the music wouldn't play

GC2 for OS2 had a theme that played when you completed researching a tech that made me very happy whenever I heard it, and I was wondering if anyone knew if the music, and specifically that theme, was available anywhere. I'd kind of like to turn it into a personal ringtone if I could.

Good news—the fanfare you remember is still hiding in the original OS/2 edition of Galactic Civilizations II.

How to grab it

  1. Download the preserved CD image
    → Galactic Civilizations II (OS/2) disc image

  2. Mount or unzip the image, then open either:

    SOUND16\DISC.WAV   (16-bit stereo) 
    SOUND8\DISC.WAV    (8-bit mono)

 

I believe DISC.WAV is the short “research completed” jingle you're looking for. Copy whichever version you prefer and convert it to MP3/OGG/M4R if you’d like it as a ringtone.
