Start11 Taskbar Issues - Problem with Previews where Taskbar Buttons are Combined

Start11 appears to be great, but there is one problem that makes this EXTREMELY difficult to use. When taskbar buttons are combined (e.g., Outlook and all the open mails), if I hover the cursor over the combined button, it should show a preview of all the combined buttons, as in the attached picture. This works great when the computer starts, but as soon as I click on an active window outside of Start11, there's a high likelihood that when I go back and hover above the combined taskbar button, it does nothing at all. I can click on the combined button and it will give me one of the windows, but I have no control over which one. I have to manipulate the size of the taskbar a couple of times and then it will go back to showing me the previews, but once I go back to another active window, I have the same problem. This makes Start11 almost unusable. I've tried all the settings, but I can't find a combination that avoids this problem. Any ideas how to fix this? Otherwise, Start11 seems like an amazing product.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. You on Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 full version number.
  3. Start11 taskbar Enhance taskbar turn on or off?
  4. Combine taskbar button setting on Windows taskbar setting or on Start11 enhance taskbar setting?

Thank you,

Thanks!

On Windows 11. Version info below. Start11 Version 2.52.3 (although I had the same problem with the prior, released version, which is why I tried the beta). Enhanced Taskbar is turned on. Combine taskbar button is set on the Start11 enhanced taskbar setting. Thanks again!

I can not reproduce your issue on my system. But I am on Windows 11 24H2 (OS Build 26100.4061)

Does it only happen on Outlook?

Also, Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

I have exactly the same issue, on 24h2 when using the taskbar on top. It becomes unusable, I cannot access apps minimised in the taskbar.

This is my win version. I have start11 v.1, latest version, but I currently uninstalled it, because that issue. But I can try to reinstall it, just please guide me about which way should I do it. With enhance taskbar on, or off? Should I combine taskbar icons in windows, or in start11?

Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I don't think Start11v1 still compatible with current Windows 11 version. Please to a 30 days free trial on Start11v2 and see if you still having the same issue. Report back.

Thank you.

For what it's worth, I tried late yesterday the exact instructions that were suggested above (uninstall, reboot immediately, reinstall, reboot) and that appears to have fixed the issue for my two licensed copies of Start11. In both cases, I reinstalled using the beta. I don't know why that worked, or what it did, but it appears to have worked (or at least I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, but I hadn't reported it yet as it's been less than a day). I'll report back if the problem reappears. Also, and for what it's worth, I set "combine" to "never" within the taskbar settings so that the only "combine" instruction is coming from Start11. Thanks!
