game wont launch

I have Gal Civ 4 on Steam

Have played for several months but now game wont launch.   I keep getting an error "Supernova user data folder.  System cannot find the file specified" 

I have validated the game files multiple times and each time it finds two files that need to be reaquired.  The files are reloaded but the game still returns the same error.   I have restarted the PC, shut down and powered on the PC many times but that doesn't work.   Have also stopped Steam and relaunched it.   Have removed the game and reloaded it.   Nothing works, keep getting the same error.   What suggestions are there for the next steps?

Thanks for sharing! Ill communicate this to the team and circle back if they have any insight to offer. May I ask if you are running any mods?

Also in the past two things that we noticed may affect it are:

1. Is it stored on an external drive by chance? If so try switching the install location

2. If installed or updated an anti-virus or security program recently, that might be messing with it but you should check Documents\My Games\GalCiv4 to make sure that it's still there

I have the same issue. I just installed the game and I get this message:

Cannot find special folder path. Error message: (80070003)

The system cannot find the path specified.

To help me better understand the situation, may I ask if you are using any mods and if this is on the live build or test branch?
