Windows File Explorer not opening and crashing on startup

Hello, I need some help. I just reinstalled Stardock's software for my new computer and when I try to apply a skin, file explorer stops working completely or will crash Windows explorer as well. I've tried the clean install method and it did not work.

Windows 11 Professional 24H2 (26100.ge_release.240331-1435)

WindowBlinds 11.06 (021 x64 - Windows 11 Edition) - 64 bit OS

If someone can help me I would appreciate it.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Is this a Windows insider Preview version? If so, please revert to actual release version. Stardock do not support its product on Windows Insider/Beta release.

I do not believe I'm running a Insider build

Here is the specs 

Edition Windows 11 Pro

Version 24H2

Installed on ‎1/‎31/‎2025

OS build 26100.3915

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.83.0

I am currently on the same version as yours. But, I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Few questions.

  1. Are you on ARM base CPU system?
  2. Do you have ESET antivirus running in your system?

If both answers are "no", Please try, uninstall Windowblinds, reboot immediately (important), redownload latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

I'm on an Intel CPU (14900-HX to be exact) nor do I have ESET. I will try to uninstall and redowload

Hello all 

I was about to reset my PC because I was having the same issue. As a last resort decided to unload WindowBlinds and it worked! File Explorer works again.
