Unable to import/export settings

The "Backup settings" and "Restore settings" options in Start11 don't work:

But the reset options work as expected.

I get the Aero circle indicator for a split second when click either option but no common dialog appears to open or save the file.

I smell a bug...

It is possible the issue happen because you're using, another 3rd party theme software that might be incompatible with Start11v2. Try this install Start11v2 in Windows Sandbox and see if the issue appear while in there.

By uninstalling SecureUxTheme it works.

Maybe an FAQ entry should be added mentioning that the load/save feature doesn't work with SecureUxTheme enabled?

However, that makes sense that it would conflict, seeing as how the export/import just creates or imports a renamed reg file:

Puzzling.

I suspect your theme is not compatible with the latest version of Windows and any app which opens a file open dialog will fail.  Try notepad and see what happens with your theme enabled.

WindowBlinds was updated for this but anything else probably is not.

I tried Notepad and Notepad++ and both work fine:

I have the "Aero 7-11 Round" theme applied.

I know the theme works fine with apps that use parts of the Metro UI:

It seems like Start11Config.exe falls into the same category as ExplorerPatcher's properties window.

Unfortunately there is little we can do.

The dialog is a stock Windows one and if it fails to show it is probably a theme issue and you would need to seek support from the theme dev/patcher tool.

We have previously had an issue with folder picker dialogs with a tool which tried to change them to file open dialogs as it did it incorrectly.

The config is 32 bit if that makes a difference as your test apps are 64 bit.

If ExplorerPatcher is having trouble with a window too with the theme then that's more evidence there is an issue with the theme.

It turns out it's a change Microsoft made that affects all third-party theme enablers.

If I change the theme back to the default "Windows (light)" theme without uninstalling SecureUxTheme the common dialogs work fine 100% of the time.

Start11 is not the only program affected. Some (but not all) 64-bit programs experience the issue as well.
