Deskscapes not displaying wallpapers to choose from

For some reason when opening Deskscapes 11, all the wallpapers to choose from do not show up. Just seeing blank boxes with titles to the wallpaper, but cannot see what to choose from, (pictures not displaying), so I don't know what I'm downloading. Hope that makes sense. Seems this issue started last week for me. Thanks.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details,

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Deskscapes 11 full version number.
  3. What change since last week?
  4. Post a video showing us the issue might help us understand it better.
  5. Have you tried uninstall and reinstall Deskscapes? Please try, uninstall Deskscapes, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products . Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

This is what I'm seeing when opening the application. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times. I am using the latest release version of Deskscapes, v11.02 on Windows 11 24H2.

Just to add, I've cleared the online cache within the app settings, but that still does not fix the problem.

The "installed" tab also showing blanks?

Yes, the installed tab also shows black boxes under "static wallpapers", yet oddly enough installed animated wallpapers displays as it should. To sum it all up, all tabs with the exception of installed animated wallpapers are showing nothing but black boxes and the Deskscapes logo.

If you use Windows File explorer and navigate to any folder with some wallpapers in it, does the wallpapers thumb nail show up properly?

If, yes, Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Yes, the wallpapers display fine in windows explorer. I ran the purge batch file, rebooted, reinstalled Deskscapes, and am still having the same issue as before. May just have to run a repair install of Windows 11.

Make sure this folder exists. C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Stardock\DownloadedDreams which stores all the Static background you have downloaded from within DeskScapes.

If your go up one level to C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Stardock there should be a folder called DSCache which stores the Latest backgrounds.

Check these folders and report back with your findings.

Checked AppData and the folders exist as well as downloaded backgrounds. I performed an elevated install of Windows 11 and that did not fix the problem. I have to assume there's something wrong with Deskscapes.

Problem solved. Turns out it had to do with installing a "codec pack" that seemed to correct the problem. Not sure why but it worked.
