I found that skinstudio was making a bit of a mess of a recent conversion I tried so I had to use photoshop. It was a bit of a journey trying to get photoshop to comply, I would convert the image to 16 colours indexed mode but then when I went to save it I wasn't offered the opportunity to save it as a 4 bit image, only 8 bits.
In the end, if I remember correctly, I had to change it to indexed mode, 16 colours, with black and white as forced colours in the palette - then when I went to save it, both 8 bit and 4 bit options were available.

Paint Shop Pro - does it in 3 clicks or less.

Just a little friendly advice.

You may want to change your Author Name lest you find yourself at the business end of an Admins wrath.

That is all

P.S. This site is frequented by Adults and Children who may find it offensive or do not need to see it at all.

If you really mean't "Can't Save", then go to the "Colours" menu and "Decrease Colours" and then "16 Colours (4 Bit)" this will reduce the colours to the correct form, then you just save as a .BMP file.

Simple isn't it

Hmmmm....I see you still haven't changed your Author name.

Trust me I'm no prude in fact far from it, but I have a niece and a nephew that peruse this site and my niece being the older one (8yrs.) likes the different "nicks" people use and she likes to click on them to see where their from. I just think your Author name is in very bad taste for a family site.

(end of rant)

The problem with Author's name is that once you create the account, it cannot be change by the user.
T-Man will have to be emailed and request the change of the name.

Your right of course Apoc, I guess I was just so frustrated after my niece asked me "what kind of name is that" and said the "F-word" that I blanked on that info which I knew to be the case.

But I'm no tattle-tale so maybe an Admin will come across this sooner or later and take care of it.

I have to agree with Kona. It's easier in Paint Shop Pro, as is most things. Long live PSP!

Photoshop is HARD. You can do most basic things that an amateur skinner would need in PSP anyway.
