There have been some reports of clients receiving '212' activation errors when trying to upgrade from a prior version of Fences (seemingly from Fences 3 and 4, not Fences 5) to Fences 6.  We have created this thread to gather such reports and to keep you posted on our investigation of it.

I am experiencing the -212 error code. I have created the folder in Program Data and given the Users group Full Control (which is weird, I have other apps create folders in Program Data folder). I still receive the -212 error. I am upgrading from Fences 3.

I also ran into the Error = -212 problems. I tried the method from Solutions , https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1260552209/Error:+212+or+Product+Keeps+Prompting+to+Activate, and that also did not work. 

So I accidently found a different way to bypass this problem. And without deleting anything. 

Open Start menu, and right click on the program i.e. Fences.

Select more > Open File Locations

Right click on the program causing problems, and select Run as Administrator.

Solved.
