Walls, Logons and bootskins

/me wonders why:

People go to the trouble to download\make these and have them look or reflect the MS\XP look. It seems that one would want their machine to look different than what window XP or before looks like. If I wanted my machine to have that MS flag and or XP with that sky blue on it then I might as well leave it with what came with the machine.

I just don't understand. Maybe some of you kind folks could enlighten me.

Yes, I've wondered aboot tha' meself.

Mainly it's the std black bootscreen I don't care for and that's what often gets modified, keeping the same black background. On the other hand I don't want something too busy. So I use Keila's Windows mind of its own bootskin. (It's appropriate to the situation plus I think it's a hoot.) But there are some others that look nice too.

But I don't really need to be told my OS is Winders so something different for logons, bootscreens and walls (oh my) is nice.

I don't understand the appeal of bootscreens or logons at all, honestly, since I so very rarely see them. And I'm really sick of reading about them...

As for walls, I'll join the chorus. I know XP is under the hood I don't need any reminders.

ok... did someone start a rumor that semicolons are chocolate? Because someone or something is eating them...

For me, it's kinda like Monster Garages and how they trick out cars. Some of the things they do just for looks you hardly ever see, but it's done for attention to detail. So, if I'm skinnin my GUI, why not skin the Boot/Logon just to compliment the GUI skin, a little attention to detail.

I guess for now people like the variations of the WinXP theme. Plus I think it's just easier to make. I also think the 4bit/16colors has something to do with it, so they just take the easy route.

The only WinXP Boot I ever downloaded was one of a X-Ray skull with a green jaw, it just looked tuff. I forget what it's called.

As for walls

Sorry, I'm graphically challenged. I have a genetic pixel deficiency. But I know what I like, and I like what I know.
