Search Bug on Multiple Monitors

it works but I'm getting a crick in my neck

Hi,

I'm using W11Pro 24H2 and Start11 v2.51 on a Notebook with 2 additional monitors attached via a dock. The "second" (docked) monitor is set as the default screen. My Start11 menu is the Windows Pro Style.

I've set Start11 to show search, but if I open the menu on any monitor other than the default and start typing to search (Microsoft Windows menu-like), the first couple of typed characters drop while Start11 changes from being on that monitor to the default monitor for the search.

Shouldn't the search occur on the monitor that I opened the menu on, like it does with the "standard" M$ menu, and not jump back to the default monitor?

Let me know if you can duplicate this and if it is a bug, or just my gear that is doing this...

Cheers,

Philip

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce you issue on my system. The search box stay on the monitor that I first open Start menu at. Something like screenshot below.

Need to know your Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.

Also, Please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Thank you,

Do you mean you have it set to use the Windows 11 search not the Start11 one?

Hi basj and Neil,

I figured it out with your suggestions...

I had W11 search selected and not Start11 search for Start 11 Menu.

When I changed that to Start 11 Search, the text types into the search bar on the Start11 menu on the screen it is initiated on.

When I change that back to NOT Start11 Search, the typing reverts to the default menu, dropping the first one or two characters as the focus transitions.

Did I find a bug? Shouldn't search stay where on the menu it is initiated from regardless of which search type is used?

Cheers,

Philip

This has been a problem for years, I experience it all the time. I have two monitors but it will also happen even if I open the start menu on the main monitor. It's not every time, maybe not even most of the time. Perhaps 10-20% of the time.
