Are Starbase Sensors working?

I made a military starbase and it has a sensor range of 16. When I moved my ships the enemy ships appeared to disappear on the screen and I could not see them. But my starbase is only 8 tiles away from the enemy ships. Then when I moved my ships closer to the enemy ships the ships reappeared. I thought the starbase would keep the ships visible. Its also possible I just don't know what I am doing and missed something.

Does anyone know if the sensors on the starbases work?

Actually, nevermind I was able to replicate the issue. This is a bug. I'm forwarding to the community manager.
