My PC force reboots on game launch

Bug/Issue Report

Hi, loving the game so far!

Unfortunately, I've encountered a strange problem. Every time I launch the game (i.e. click play in the launcher) it force restarts my PC. strangely, I figured out that if you validate the game files through Steam; it says one is missing and downloads a 40kb file. When I do this, the game runs perfectly until I shut down the PC at the end of the session and then it goes back to the force restarts again the next time I use the PC. This means I have to validate the game files every time I wish to play the game, which, while a functional workaround, is not ideal.

I'm currently in the process of re-installing the game (as I assume you'll ask me to do that haha) and will update this post if that fixes anything.

I should also state that I have 0 mods installed, and this is a fresh, 100% vanilla install of the game where this is happening.

While it's not a major problem because of the work around, I found, I figured there was no harm putting it on the devs radar.

Thanks. :)

Hello! Any follow up on this after the reinstall?

Hi, it still doesn't work after reinstalling. Some more observations:

When I validate files, there is always only 1 file missing and the download size is 47.1KB.

I've also now noticed that gamedata2.dat in the main steamapps\common\Sins2 folder is recently modified to the time I validated the files. I'm now thinking this could be the culprit. Though I'm not sure how or why it seems to delete itself each time I shut down the PC.

Hey, sorry you're running into this issue. If the files are getting removed after a shut down you're running into an issue with Steam or your operating system, not the game. The game isn't even running when this issue is occurring from what you've said. Suggestion I've seen online for files disappearing is to exclude your Steam directory from your antivirus. This is a new one for us.

Oh right, that makes sense haha. I should have thought of that myself. How weird? I wonder why it hates that one file? No matter, I'll sort it. Thank you for your help. :)
