IconPackager

Can someone please tell me if it is worth it to purchase the IconPackager software? I haven't really messed with it, but I am curious as to how it works. Believe me when I tell you that I apologize for all these posts. I have tried all the websites and calling Stardock, but I am getting no help. I can't post to a newsgroup because my server (charter) does not support the stardock newsgroup. REAL bummer. I can read them an that is it. So I apologize for all the posts here, but you all have been so kind in helping me with questions that I think you might consider old. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Koasati! When I go to d/l a package from the Icon Packager, do I d/l it to my desktop and exe. it from there or should I d/l it to another place?

You can d/l it to anywhere you wish, doesn't matter. Personally I have a folder on my second drive just for downloads, with sub-folders within..... just makes it easier to keep track of things for me. Once you have the d/l you can install it from there, or open IP and use the "Install new package" button.

Here is the deal. When I click on the icon for the IP that I have saved (I usually save to my desktop) it says " The icons for the WindowsXP Classic Start Menu cannot be changed. This is currently a limitation within the operating system and not a problem with the IconPackager application"
Now what??????

What OS? ...... nevermind..... I need to read all the words...  Why are you using the Classic Startmenu?

I get that message also when I run IP. I think it just pops up to let you know if you are using the classic start menu it doesn't change it. I am not using the classic one and get the message so I don't think it means Madison uses it.

Yeah, I get that message too and have never run the awful classic menu.

IconPackager is SO worth it, yeah. I guess it's my favorite single ap here behind Windowblinds.

I made sure that I was NOT running in the Classic Start Menu. I went ahead, on the advice of a great guy named Jake at SD, to buy the IP. One question. The IP's download in a zip file. From there should I use the extraction that comes with XP or d/l winzip?

No .... just click on "Install new Package" and use the "FROM DISC" option, navigate to where you saved the d/l package, click on the 'ip' package and you're done.
And please .... RTFM.
