Deskscapes background has ceased animating, and the app will not open.

A few weeks ago, I noticed on PC startup that my background was static. For a long time I have had the same Canadian flag animation without any issue.
I am on the latest WIndows, all drivers are up to date, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Deskscapes, but it still refuses to open.
The same happens whether I try to open through Object Desktop or the Start Menu. It is no longer visible in the System Tray.
In Task Manager, Deskscapes is using 0 resources across the board. 
When I try to open it, I can the activity animation of my cursor to indicate a background process is being attempted, and then nothing. There is no sign of the app being open anywhere.

Any help and advice would be appreciated, as I miss seeing my Maple Leaf flapping in the breeze.

Hi Neil, sorry you're having problems.

Which version of Deskscapes is on your machine?

Also, please run winver and tell us the result - version and build number.

Did you update your Windows just before this happened?

Hi.

I have whatever the latest version is of Deskscapes, as I uninstalled and reinstalled it a few times over the past couple of weeks. I do not actually know the version number a I cannot open the app to check.
My OS build is 26100.2605.
There had been no changes to anything when the issue began. I closed down at the end of day as I always do, and the next boot up the following day resulted in a static background, and a Deskscapes app that I could not open.
This was in mid December.
No new hardware or software had been added.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

1. Uninstall Deskscapes. 

2. Reboot immediately (critical), download the latest Deskscapes build from the Stardock store and install it.

This should resolve your issue.

Uninstalled using Control Panel. Rebooted. Reinstalled via Object Desktop. Rebooted. Still doesn't open.
Uninstalled again using Control Panel. Rebooted. Downloaded the link for Deskscapes from the Software tab on this page. Instelled. Rebooted. Still doesn't open.
It shows in Object Desktop with the button saying open, but it fails to open.
It shows in my Start Menu under Stardock, but it fails to open.

Issue unresolved.
