Weapon Sound Effects

So, in Sins II battles, I mainly hear the rat-tat-tat of machine guns. And that's about it. The Ragnarov Titan has lost its cool railgun sound (it's now more of a bonk), the lasers all sound silent. It's the same for the Advent and Vasari too.

Sound is such an important and memorable part of the game, please give different weapons different sounds.

Was it always like this or is this something new ?

What's your system spec, sound card, etc. ?

I've only had the game for about 2 weeks, but it's "always" been that way since then :) Also, to be specific, I can hear other sound effects besides "machine guns". Getting close to a capital ship will result in a hum/rumble, and clicking things/ships will cause their speech/sound to play as normal. It just seems to be other weapons effects that are absent.

I take it since you ask this question that there are other sounds in the game and it's likely my system? That's good to know.

This looks to me like your Sound Speaker are set in 5.1 mode, but you're only really using 2.1 speaker/headphones. Have you check in windows to make sure you have the proper speaker setup set ?

Thanks, I changed it to 2.1 mode, but there isn't too much difference. I played as Advent and Vasari and attacked some low level planets so there were less weapons fire, and I can hear beam weapons there. It's just much much softer than mass driven weapons.

Also took the Ragnarov for another spin, again in a relatively small battle. I think they have replaced the railgun sound effect from Rebellion with something a bit more dull.

Obviously, this is just my opinion. I'm sure lots of people prefer the current sound and that's fantastic.

Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial to mod sound effects?

Cheers.

Hey, to mod sound effects, you can just open this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sins2\sounds

There you will find all sound effects. Then use any tool to change their volume or even replace it with completely other sounds of your liking.

If you do it in root folder, it will be replaced every patch. So best would be to create a mini mod.
For that navigate to this folder:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\sins2\mods

And create your minimod there (a folder with a name + folder inside it called "sounds")

Hope this helps :)
