Playlist Update Does Not

I invoke  Configure Deskcapes

I create a playlist called XYZ

I select "add folder contents and update for changes automatically"

I select folder XYZ

Contents of folder XYZ populate the Playlist window.

I apply playlist XYZ to all monitors

I close the Configure Deskscapes window and enjoy playlist XYZ

end of day I power off computer

Next day ...

I power on computer

I add new items to folder XYZ

I invoke Configure Deskscapes

I select Playlists and select/apply playlist XYZ

new items do not appear.

 

What is my problem?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce your issue. Need to know more information for your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number.
  2. Deskcapes version number.

I tested on the same Windows 10 version and OS Build as yours. But, I can add files to that folder and it get display when their turn come.

Here is my steps in testing this.

  1. Create a new playlist.
  2. Add few background, just to make it easy, I add two background to that playlist.
  3. Add folder->Add folder contents and update for changes automatically->Select a folder with 2 background.
  4. For fast testing: Click on settings->change timing to 1 minute. sequential selected.
  5. Apply playlist.
  6. Watch the playlist get play. Close Deskscape config window.
  7. As it get play open up that background folder. Add two new background into that folder.
  8. Watch and see the new background appear.

I am sorry I forget this important information. My playlist content is all mp4. Do your test with all mp4 content. thank you.

I tested with mp4 too and it work just like the wallpaper does.

Not sure why it does not work on your system. I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Do note that if you have lots of files in multiple folders, it will take sometime for Deskscapes to go through all those files and start adding those new files.

Stardock is currently on Holidays until 2nd January. While waiting, please try this steps to ensure your installation of Deskscape is good. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I did this and ran my test. Issue resolved.

I went thru these 'purge' steps previously for a different issue and it did fix that issue, I also have seen other topic issues where this 'purge[ is advised.

This is unsettling because it informs me that this software has a stability issue. However, thankfully, my issues have not, so far, been showstoppers.
