Bar Background & Tab Colour Issue

Dragging Groupy Window Freeze/Crash, FTC'S Wrong Behavior, False Default Tab Colour

Dear Stardock,

I'm writing this forum to point out issues faced using Groupy v2.20 (latest release) on the following machine's system:

  • Windows 10 pro v22h2 build 19045.5131

other possibly relevant system info:

  • Nvidia Studio Driver v566.36
  • DirectX v12

The Following Issues

  1. Dragging, Moving, or even just Clicking on Groupy's Bar Background causes the overall window to Freeze/Crash

      2. Not sure if this counts as an issue or a lacking feature, however. Focused Tab Colours (FTC)'s Colour is applied to All Tabs instead of just the Active Tab when Background Bar Feature is Off

*Focused & Unfocused Tab Colors' Preferences are shown in the Picture Below/Next Section

      3. The Default Focused & Unfocused Tab Colors are not set according to its Color Preview

Useful Insights

  • Updating the OS = Fail
  • Downgrading OS (current: build 19045.5131, as I dont want to update for various reasons) = Fail
  • Updating Graphic Driver = Fail
  • Downgrading Graphic Driver = Fail
  • Downgrading Groupy to v2.0 BETA = Temporary Win (solves the Background Bar Crash Issue but has a bug where it creates horizontal line under tabs + missing Tab Colours Features)
  • When Groupy v2.20 is placed in a Screen Recorder's Region (using PicPick's Screen Recorder as example) = Useless Win (solves the Background Bar Crash Issue but Not Practical [demonstrated below])

Hope these insights might help with finding solutions for the 3 issues listed above, especially if I can stick to Windows 10 pro v22h2 build 19045.5131 without needing to upgrade while using Groupy v2 without those issues

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Lets look at your issue one at a time.

Dragging, Moving, or even just Clicking on Groupy's Bar Background causes the overall window to Freeze/Crash

Looking at your short video, may I know, it look like you're not using the default Windows 10 file explorer. So, what applications you use to change it? I asked since I can not reproduce your issue on my Windows 10 system with Groupy v2.2 refer my short video below.

Thank you.

Hi Basj,

It is Windows File Explorer but with a theme patch that makes it look different. However, I tested it by removing the theme patch, reverting the normal/familiar look of Windows File Explorer (same as your video) & installing Groupy v2, still the issue exists. Therefore, I wouldnt consider the theme patch a necessary factor to replicate the issue.

What I think the main 2 factors that could play a role in causing the issue with Groupy v2.20:

  • Windows 10 pro v22h2 build 19045.5131
  • Nvidia Studio Driver v566.36 installed
