Start11 taskbar app entries messed up

Duplicate apps leading to wrong app in taskbar

I am finding, repeatedly, that Start11 is causing the apps I have specified there to be incorrect. This was NOT happening before I installed Start11 about six weeks ago. Typically, I will see what looks like a duplicated app. But when I click the app icon, there is no telling which app will get started -- though it will be one of the apps which I originally pinned to the taskbar.

Sometimes, instead of what looks like a duplicated app, it will simply show up as no app. Other than that, the bug is identical to what I've described above. (I realize that there is a bug in Windows 11 causing these "blank" apps in the taskbar, but the thing where it seems to get duplicated and then leads to the wrong app would seem to be related to Start11 alone.

Rebooting does not fix the problem. The only fix I can find is to unpin the icons which are leading to the wrong app and then pin the apps I want all over again. A pain, but doable. But when one has to do it over and over and over, one has to wonder how much one wishes to continued to use Start11!

I am running Windows 11 Version 23H2 Build 22631.4391. Start11 version is 2.11. Please let me know what other information is needed which I may have omitted.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Try using the "Setting Backup" feature in Start11. Once you get everything setup perfectly for you. Make a backup. And when the issue reappear. Use the Restore settings, and see if that work removing those blank icons and launching wrong application. Try that and report back.

Thank you.

Not to my knowledge. I'm not even sure how to enable it. I was unaware of any such feature. I'll give it a look though. Thanks!

I will do so. Thank you for your prompt reply. Also thank you for your suggestion about the backup/restore feature. I think that is a reasonable approach. Again, thank you for your reply!
