Automatic grouping of a saved group does not work

Hello,

I have created a group with the tools Outlook, Slack and Teams. When I open the group now, the 3 programs open but they do not group themselves. The tools are open but independent of each other. What do I have to do so that these 3 programs are always grouped automatically?

Thank you very much.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Groupy full version number.

Thanks

Hello,

I don't have Slack but I can open Outlook and Teams in a group without issue. However to be sure, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

If I want to save a group with grouped groups, is there anything I need to bear in mind? I have only saved the group.

Hi NiBa,

I have created a group with the tools Outlook, Slack and Teams. When I open the group now, the 3 programs open but they do not group themselves. The tools are open but independent of each other. What do I have to do so that these 3 programs are always grouped automatically?

I was able to reproduce this.  However, we have previously noted that some applications simply do not work well with groups.  Issues may also be possible if some apps are still running, or if still running background processes.  It is possible Slack is one such application, as the behavior of the same group without Slack included seems to work much better.

To test what I found in reproducing this, you can try the following:

  • Close the saved group, then before opening it again make sure Slack is completely exited.
    • The Slack application will not actually "close" when you click the X to exit the window; it is likely hiding in the System Tray of your Taskbar.  Right click it there to exit it completely.  Once this is completely exited, see if the saved group now opens combined/normally.  You might also find that after signing out and back in, the group can work the first time, but then start failing until you completely exit Slack or sign out again.

We'll have this logged for internal review.
