[BUG] Selected tab is rolling back

Hello,

I'm recently encountering an issue with Groupy2.
The issue was present with last version and previous.
I had issue with 23h2 & still present after updating to 24h2 (26100.2033).
I did not change any Groupy settings and do not see what could have create this issue.

Now for the issue description:
I have a multiple windows with chrome tabs, steam tab & a chrome APP window with Groupy tabs.

But when I switch to my game window on another monitor and come back to this multiple groupy tabs and directly click to an other groupy tabs it force the previous groupy tab selected and I can not switch groupy tab unless I select the previous groupy tab selected.
For maybe more comprehensive explanation.
1-My Groupy window is on tab "A"
2-I switch to my game window (which is not grouped to any Groupy)
3-I click on Tab "B" of the groupy window
4-My window assciated to tab "B" quickly appear for half a second and the Tab "A" is automatically re-selected and windows associated to tab "A" reappear.
5-After that If I select any tab it falls back to tab "A" unless I click on tab "A" or on window "A". If I click on tab "A" nothing visual happens but I am now unlock and can select any groupy tab without issue.

If you have any suggestions or tests you want me to do, I'm ready to give some more details.

Regards

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information.

  1. Groupy full version number.
  2. Post a video of this issue and upload it to any video sharing site, set it public and post its link here. This will help us understand the issue better.

Thank you.

If you have any suggestions or tests you want me to do, I'm ready to give some more details.

This is a difficult one to isolate; I haven't been able to reproduce on 23H2 while using default Groupy 2 settings and other full-screen windows/games.

It may be useful to know:

  • Does this occur for you with any other games?
  • Can the issue be worked around by using other view modes in games where it happens (Windowed mode using Alt+Enter while in game, rather than full-screen mode, for example)?

If it keeps happening, another thing I would recommend is uninstalling Groupy 2 (and selecting to remove settings) then reinstalling, especially if you haven't done this in a while or since your Windows update.   This could help to ensure like you said that the Groupy 2 settings are indeed set to default, and that nothing else screwy happend over the Windows version update.  If you do this, when you first run the program, notice that it ask some questions regarding settings at first launch.  You'll want to take note of what answers to select to reply with if the issue persists.

Thanks and best regards,

Ok I think I have more details to share.
It is not link to the game, the issue is just the way I use groupy / app in groupy while playing this game.
It seams the issue is link to Chrome App or This chrome App specifically. The issue appear if I am on the chrome app groupy tab and I move focus to a completely other window and try to then switch to another groupy tab on the groupy group where the chrome app is selected.
I did not use nor check if any other chrome app have the issue:
chrome://apps
and the chrome app can be install here:

After experiencing some more to find a way to reproduce the issue I can't seams to find a reliable way to do so.
But it keeps happening now and then.
It is clearly link to the way I use it: "Go to a Groupy tab, switch focus to another window and then try to switch Groupy tab on the previous window".

One thing I'm sure about is it seams to be link to the moment when I activate a tab because when the issue happens the tab that keeps been reactivated has a wired quirks when I firstly activate it. It quickly blink when I select it.
I'll try to make a new video to show this behavior.
But in one Groupy window I have like 8 tabs and 3 of them has this behavior to quickly blink when selected and all of them (but only those 3) are subject to the "rollback activation issue".

When trying to record the issue I figure out that Groupy tab that have the issue does not trigger the issue on other tabs.
In exemple, if in a Groupy window I have 6 tab and tab 1&2 have the issue.
If tab 1 is selected and I move focus to an other window and select tab 3 it rollbacks to tab 1.
If tab 2 is selected and I move focus to an other window and select tab 3 it rollbacks to tab 2.
If tab 3 is selected and I move focus to an other window and select tab 4 it switch correctly.
If tab 1 is selected and I move focus to an other window and select tab 2 it switch correctly.

here tab 1 & 5 & 7 are impacted by the issue:

Some more details I found the grouped windows with Groupy are separated to different windows on  the task bar.
I have 7 Groupy tabs of brave windows but only 3 windows are accessible on the taskbar.
It seams Groupy are grouping multiple groups in one.
It is like all groups are on one tab bar but in fact there is 3 separated groups in "logic".

Are you able to reproduce it in any other browser?

I'm a bit lazy and don't really want to test with an other browser.
But I have one last thing I have discover.
I have this option checked:

And when brave browser is restarting it is set to start with last state so with like 7 windows and dozens of tabs by window.
I think the issue is that Groupy is starting auto grouping brave windows simultaneously on multiple windows then grouping those group together here is an exemple of what I thing is going on:

1- Windows A,B,C,D,E,F,G of Brave are opening,
2- Windows A,B,C are grouping together simultaneously Windows D,E,F are grouping together
3-Then Quickly all groups are grouping together creating one big Group with Windows A,B,C,D,E,F,G. There I think previous sub group are staying "alive" in some way.

So when I encounter the issue I ungroup the window that I have the issue with and regroup it with the group and the issue disappear till I restart my computer.
