Groupy 2

Keeping Control Panel from being Grouped

Seems like every time I want to ask a community question it gets more and more difficult to find the right category to place my issue/question(s).   With this one, I'm trying to set this up so that Control Panel never gets grouped with file explorer at all.  The issue I have with this is that Control Panel is a separate exe file all together, where all the options are for PC operation. While File Explorer is .... well, I don't need to tell you. For me it looks really odd for the 2 to be in the same group. So I'm trying to keep them from being grouped together.

I tried excluding it from grouping, but that excludes ALL explorer.exe windows from grouping, and I don't want that. I only want Control.exe out of the group. having any/all file explorer windows grouped is good.

control.exe vs explorer.exe   See the issue here??  control is the exe for control panel, explorer is the exe for file explorer. It's like grouping the Logitech GHUB program with Microsoft Edge.  One is a customization program for logitech G products, and the other is a web browser.  Makes no sense to group them together.  But that's just me. So I thought I would ask about the possibility of (as that song goes by The Offspring) KEEP 'EM SEPARATED. (Yeah I just went there).

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to do this while using Groupy. If you disable Groupy, Control panel will open in a separate window, but it's still an Explorer window. There just isn't a tab.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Assuming you on Windows 11, Explorer already have its own tab, and if you set Groupy to replace Explorer tab, it should automatically group if you  select "open in new tab" hence you don't need to set explorer.exe to autogroup.

Thank you.
