Stoke manager Tony Pulis yesterday warned his players to be more careful of their own discipline, following the fracas at the end of the Wimbledon fixture, and with John Eustace's suspension by the FA being confirmed.
Pulis commented on the scuffle at Wimbledon, which came after a tackle on Gerry Taggart, in a press conference yesterday. "Although I do not condone fighting, I do believe my players are correct in standing up for each other, as it shows good team spirit in the camp. However, the players should be aware of pulling their own team-mates away from the situation, not the opposition" Pulis suggested. Whilst regarding the curious decision to dismiss Richard Johnson from the field, Pulis stated that the club have asked the Football Association to consider rescinding the red card, with the manager believing that Stoke have "a strong case" for their argument.
It has been confirmed also, that John Eustace will serve a 2 match ban, as a result of him being shown 10 yellow cards so far this season. He will miss the away fixture to Walsall, and the clash against Millwall at the Britannia Stadium.
