Notepad - Settings - What are you Using?

For those using Group 2.x what settings do you have set for Notepad in Windows 11 (since it has its own tabs) to allow them to work well together?  Just curious as I have had issues where I have the snapshot setting (open previous session) option selected and when using Groupy and opening Notepad the tabs don't show up properly - it only opens the most recent tab or selected one.

Just curious on settings that others have used to make this work as I really want to use Groupy but this kills it for me.  LOL

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more information on your system.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Groupy full version number.
  3. Screenshot or video on your issue so we understand your issue better.

Thank you.

For me, it works fine.

I have the following Groupy2 settings:

General > Integrate the tabs; > Show all

Tab appearance > Always visible

Grouping settings > Replace File Explorer & Windows Notepad tabs; Explorer enhancement settings > New Explorer tabs should open in the same folder

And the following Notepad settings:

Opening files > Open in a new window

When Notepad starts > Start new session and discard unsaved changes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that.  I might test and see but this option is a non-starter - When Notepad starts > Start new session and discard unsaved changes.

If I set up not to integrate the tabs it works fine it is when they get set to Integrated, but who wants two rows of tabs.  LOL

Do you have this set when when you have "General>Place tabs above" chosen? This should prevent two rows of tabs.

It does but I need to have the option Do Not replace tabs enabled to see my saved tabs in Notepad.  So not working how I want so cannot use it.

Are you talking about saved Notepad groups in Groupy2, or just general use with multiple tabs?

You can always block Notepad from Groupy2.

I am talking about how Notepad now has the snapshot feature so even if you have not saved a tab it still opens on next launch.  I did exclude Notepad for now.

That’s probably your best bet for now. I’m not sure Groupy2 will be able to support this Notepad feature, as it was designed to save groups of apps or files.

Does the new Groupy 2.30 support this snapshot feature now in Notepad, where it allows you to reopen unsaved tabs?  I use it as my daily notepad and have many tabs (yes, not ideal, but it works LOL).  Just curious, since it's been a year since my last posting.
