Error when checking for a Fences 5 update (ver 5.84)

Today I checked fences for an update within the application, running Windows 11. I've read that changes may be needed when 24H2
for W11 is release. My current Winver is: 23H2 (22631.4249). Upon doing the update check, a pop 'File version mismatch' came up.
It stated as follows below (and screenshot at the bottom)
*****
---------------------------
File version mismatch
---------------------------
Mismatching file versions detected.
A reboot may be required to complete installation.

DesktopDock64.dll is 5.8.0.3 (should be 5.8.4.7)
FencesMenu64.dll is 5.8.0.3 (should be 5.8.4.7)
---------------------------
OK

*****

So, do I uninstall & reinstall Fenced 5 to remedy this mismatch? or just reinstall Fences 5 again ?

I do fences backups/snapshots, but it would seem that a thorough uninstall would wipe the dir Fences keeps these in? I would make a copy of all the files after running a backup, saving them elsewhere I suppose, uninstall Fences and then reinstall it.

Never having seen this error before since using Fences from 1st version to 5, I've not had to do this prior

Any help is much appreciated

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Yes, try this, uninstall Fences, reboot immediately after uninstall finish, re-download latest Fences version. Install that, reboot immediately again after the installation done. Retest and report back.

Uninstall should not remove your backups layout.

Thank you.

Hi - yes no so this message is just saying a reboot is required. This message is only shown if Fences has been installed or uninstalled that session. The message is different if the machine has been rebooted.

Please reboot your machine, and see if it gives you a similar error message, or if the problem goes away?

Thank you!
