Either do as Chris or Gary suggested or use the search function at the top of the messageboard. Try something like desktop icon

Or you can just go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and download TweakUI.exe which will allow you to hide the recycle bin.

Or you can go here: http://www.tweaknow.com/ and get TweakNow Powerpack which, besides letting you remove the bin, will give you the option to rename the bin instead of removing it (Mine is labeled "Rejects" at the moment).

Hey Shameless... How does the TweakNow Powerpack work for you?? I tried it when it was relatively new and it wasn't really very useful.. Haven't tried it again since. Would you recommend it?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this. My answer is, it depends. Don't get me wrong, I love the application and use it more often than I expected when I bought it. Yes, it's shareware, $24.95 for the standard version. The only reason to get the Pro version is if you use an OS not covered by the standard pack, and from what I've seen, if you're not using XP, I doubt you'd think this is worth the money. It does have a 10-day free trial, so check it out before you buy.

Anyway, if more than one or two of the following applies to you, I'd say it's definitely worth buying:

- You use XP (Home or Pro)
- You use a dialup Internet connection and have trouble with it
- You have a comparatively slow Intel processor ( less then 1.5GHz) and 256MB RAM or less
- You have multiple users on your machine, especially inexperienced users and want to limit their access to settings, files, applications, shutdown, etc.
- You want easy access to even more hidden settings than TweakUI.exe gives you, especially some of the really irritating things like XP's Add/Remove Programs, CD autorun, Start Panel items, etc.
- You need or just want to know everything there is to know about your hardware (Manufacturer, model, serial number, settings, etc.)
- You want to understand more about what is going on under the hood, and what all that task manager data means
- You just like to tweak things and have it more your way than Bill's way

For me, the money was well spent, and I like it a lot. If you found yourself nodding your head at the bullet points up there, then check it out fro 10 days for free. It uninstalls cleanly if you don't like it.
