What could cause me to miss getting the achievement for beating the AI?

I just finished a 4-hour game where I beat a 10p FFA game against all nightmare AI's.
But I didn't get the achievement for it on that map.
What could cause that?

I did press "Continue playing" when I got the victory.
Might that cause me to not get the achievement?

I just did it because I want a saved game of the endstate so I can check things later on.

Why would that cause me to not get the attribution?

Is there something else I may have done?

I do save/load a lot, but in other games where I did that I did get the achievement.

If you have ANY mods active at all, that will cause it to not register.

From what I understand, the game behaves that if there's any setting at the start of the match that is imbalances could be perceived as not even, and therefore achievements get voided.

 

I was playing against 3 Impossible AI's with 3 allied nightmare AI's just recently and myself so it was a 3v4 and and one achievement was locked out because I went with a 3v4 instead of a 4v4 game.

Thanks guys, interesting.

@xclavex I have zero mods. Haven't looked into that at all yet. Didn't for the original either, although I was planning to.

@The Town Drunk, the only change to settings is that I have faster planet orbiting speed. I don't get a tooltip mousing over the start button at all. I do like that feature though.

@Gambit3689 I did change teams from 5v5 to 10FFA. Maybe that's it.
