Missing Save Files

Last night i had a dozen or so save files, login to the game this morning and they were all gone.

Anyone else have this issue today? I am saving to the cloud.

Just found out. New patch erased current saves. So, now we know.

you can get and play your old saves - in steam select the game right click and go to properties. Then betas, under beta participation select previous_version.

You'll be playing on yesterday's version of the game, but you can continue your saves. When you finish your game would recommend removing the previous version selection and that'll put you back in the newest version for your next game.

This really... really... REALLY should be a pop-up on 1st launch of a new update if that update isn't compatible with old saves...

Just came in to say I too had this problem.  The old folder is 1039 and the new one is 1040.   This is kind of silly that every time they release a patch I'll be losing my in progress games.  I don't want to have to hack around and move files or load an older version just because some lazy developer is not making a way to keep going on the games I have in progress.

Hello! I just wanted to clarify we actually do include some instructions at the top of our changelog on how to revert to the previous build and complete your old saved games:

This update won't work with old save games and replays but you can still play them by using the previous version:

Previous Version Instructions
If you wish to finish up your game on the previous version, do the following:

  1. Select ‘Sins of a Solar Empire II’ in your Steam Library.
  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right.
  3. Select Properties → Betas
  4. Select 'previous_edition' from the Beta Participation dropdown.
  5. Steam will update you to the latest files.
  6. To switch to latest repeat step 4 and select ‘None’

Note: You will need to re-subscribe to all mods for this update. We apologize for the hassle; this will be a one-time thing.
