Windows disappear after grouping
When "automatically group all WINWORD.EXE" is enabled, after opening a new word file the Word windows are no longer shown, only the tabs bar is shown. Tried reinstalling, but problem was not solved.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system and issue.
Thank you.
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant.
My Windows version is: Versie 23H2 (Build van besturingssysteem 22631.4037)
My Groupy version is 2.15
video at: https://we.tl/t-aeUDMdx7Ra
It appears from your video that moving the title bar around causes the window to reappear.
If you open the new document from Windows Explorer instead of Word, does this happen?
Also, how are you displaying the documents on the taskbar? Combined or uncombined?
What happens when you hover or click on the documents on the taskbar?
Yes, moving the Groupy tabs bar or clicking one of the tabs usually helps. But sometimes the whole Groupy bar has disappeared (it looks like it is above my screen). Of course in that case moving or clicking it does not work.
If I open the documents from Explorer, the problem does not seem to occur.
If I click on the Windows task bar the documents are shown and also when I hover over the Word icon in the task bar.
This is all good information that will help in diagnosing your issue.
What is the version of WORD that you are using?
This might be link to Hardware Acceleration setting. Some times back, you can disable this setting within Word/Excel itself. Now Microsoft changed it, now you will need to disable Graphics acceleration on system level.
Thank you,
Basj,

I have hardware acceleration enabled and am unable to reproduce this issue. It could be related to the version of Word you are using.
I see you are running the latest release version of Windows 11. Was this happening before the Windows update on Tuesday?
What is the version of WORD that you are using?
The latest build for Office 365 in the release channel is 2407 - 17830.20166 - August 13, 2024
From what I read, the hardware acceleration issue only occurs on some system not every single system.
Thank you,
Basj,

My version of MS Word is: Versie 2407 (build 17830.20138 Klik-en-Klaar)
Is the discussion about hardware acceleration related to my issue or are issues getting mixed up?
Its for all MS Office and Groupy. But, need to know if the issue only happen with MS Words? Do you see any other MS Office product giving similar issue or any other application auto grouping?
Thank you,

Basj was suggesting that you try turning off Hardware Acceleration to see if that changed anything.
Go to the Windows Settings panel and select System>Display>Graphics and click "Change default graphics settings," and then turn off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling." Restart your computer for it to take effect.
I wouldn't consider this a solution, but it's worth a try. If it doesn't change anything, turn it back on and restart your computer again.
Try forcing WORD to update to the latest version. Open WORD and select the FILE tab. In the left panel select "Account." Then in the right panel click "Update Options>Update now."
It certainly occurs with other Office applications.
Maybe even with other apps. I will check that.
I will try that later today and let you know what happens
Do you have a subscription to Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) or is it a stand alone version with a permanent license?
If it's Microsoft 365, another option you could try would be an "Online Repair."
I switched off hardware acceleration but problem still exists.
I updated/repaired Microsoft 365 and that also did not solve the problem.
I tried other apps, they do not seem to have the problem, but most apps have built-in tab sheet features
Please try this, uninstall Groupy, reboot immediately after uninstall done. Re-download latest Groupy. Install it, reboot immediately after installation finished. Retest it and report back.
Thank you,
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant
I already did that, although I am not sure if I did an "immediate" reboot.
Do know from the Dev did mentioned that the immediate reboot is important.

Has this issue with Office apps been a problem since you installed Groupy, or can you pin it down to a time or an event when it started happening?
So, I did what you asked. Uninstalled Group completely (including settings), Rebooted, Reinstalled new download, Rebooted again.
behaviour is still the same. Problem was always there, not after some event.
it simply does not work. Sorry, I cannot continue to try all kinds of possible solutions.
So I will uninstall it again and go back to my previous solution TidyTabs.
But thanks for your help.
I understand your frustration, but if you are willing to try one more thing, follow this guide on how to purge and reinstall. This should remove all parts of Groupy from your computer, and you can start fresh.

It's possible your download or the installation itself was corrupted.
Did all that and problem is not solved. That's it for me. Waisted lot of time here.
Back to TidyTabs
Sorry we couldn't help you.
If you had TidyTabs installed before you installed Groupy2, It's possible that is what's causing your issue. Even if you uninstalled TidyTabs, there could be some remnants remaining that are causing this issue.
Oh well, good luck.
Thanks for your support.
