Keyboard Layout

Sins2 shows the wrong keys for non-US keyboards

Hi,

I'm having problems with the key bindings. Apparently the keyboard layout is (partially?) hardcoded to a US keyboard layout. The game recognised that I have a QWERTZ-layout (German keyboard) and correctly showed the letter Y when I switched a special ability from Z to Y for consistency, but all other keys are displayed as they are on a US keyboard. This is really annoying if you are not familiar with that layout and are prompted to press the wrong keys, like ~ when the correct key would be Ö.

Please add proper support for non-US keyboard layouts!

Hello, thanks for your feedback.
So to my understanding, you have no issues with remapping the hotkeys, you are asking about automatic setup, when the game sees your layout?

Same for general non-US keyboards.

~ is actually SHIFT + # on my keyboard layout. The tutorial on orbiting is the first time you run into an issue with ~ not being the key that's hardcoded to be; in this case, the ` key per US layout. The key that works for the tutorial actually turned out to be the ' and/or @ key. Localized keyboard support is needed.

Thanks for your reply! The issue is that I can remap the hotkeys but the game uses the wrong layout. For example, if I remap a hotkey to the Ö-key on my keyboard it works, but the game will show the key as ~. I first noticed this in the tutorial when I was prompted to press ~, which would be AltGR + + on my keyboard, and had to look for an image of a US keyboard layout on the internet to determine that the game actually wanted me to press Ö. This affects all keys that are not letters* or numbers.

*only letters from the English alphabet, German umlauts and ligatures are affected as well

Edit: Visualisation

What the game displays as keys

How my keyboard looks

As you can see the German keyboard has more keys which leads to some weird shifts like ~ becoming Ö instead of ^.
