ObjectDock 3 - Stacks?

I'm a long time ObjectDock user, and I was stunned and overjoyed when I found out today that ObjectDock had received a new version after so long. It would be amazing if this would solve my minor issues with the old version under Windows 11 (extra blank "library" windows appearing as applications on the taskbar is really the only significant thing), and give me peace of mind that ObjectDock would continue to function for a long time to come.

Unfortunately, ObjectDock 3 seems to break compatibility with the handful of ancient but still perfectly functional user made dockets I use, and it seems to lack multiple features that are important to me, the most important of which is Stacks. Being able to quickly browse a folder in a nice, neat grid with one click from anywhere while doing anything else is incredibly useful, it's the feature that most attracted me to ObjectDock in the first place and I still use it constantly. But this type of docklet appears to not work at all in ObjectDock 3, even though it's still one of the built-in docklets.

Even after all this time I'm not an advanced ObjectDock user, I don't even use tabbed docks, but I need stacks to work. Am I missing something? Or if this function isn't in ObjectDock 3, is it planned to be added back?

I'm also curious whether I'm entitled to an upgrade discount. That's apparently tied to "ObjectDock 2 Plus," while my product key from way back was simply for "ObjectDock," so I assume not. That's fine, I'd be more than willing to pay 10 bucks for an updated version that keeps working with all the features I'm used to. I'm just curious.

Thanks for returning to support ObjectDock after all this time! But please, make sure it's up to the standard of what was already out there. I'd really like to support this!

I believe ObjectDock 3 was written as a 64Bit app and that older 32Bit Docklets will not work. There are also a few older features which were not compatible with Windows 10/11 which have been removed.

It makes sense that old docklets would no longer work, that's understandable. Are there any good sources for current ones?

Stacks and the other features that appear to no longer work (taskbar window thumbnails is another) still work with the old version on Windows 11, so it doesn't seem to be a compatibility issue in those cases.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, from what I understand, ObjectDock 3 was released to make it compatible with Windows 10 and 11. What was unfortunate with it is that, some of the old functions, no longer work on Windows 10 and 11 and it must be cut off. Old Docklets, such as Stack, no longer work on OD3. Hopefully new, similar function could be added later, but, for now there is no official announcement made on it yet.

Thank you.

Thanks, I understand. Hope they add Stacks back in at some point. Until then I'll keep using the old version the way I always have, it still functions well on Windows 11 overall.

Exactly. Don't update unless you need a certain feature lacking in your currently installed version.
