Start11 v2.xx and taskbar grouping in Windows 11

I have three Windows 11 Pro PCs, all updated with the latest updates and equipped with Start 11.

Recently, I ran into some issues with one of the PCs and decided to reinstall the OS. The reinstall went smoothly, but I couldn't get the taskbar buttons to always group, despite trying various methods such as settings configuration, registry tweaks, and Group Policy modifications. I suspected that the issue might be related to the interaction between Windows 11 and Start 11. To test this theory, I backed up the Start 11 settings from another PC and applied them to the problematic one, which resolved the issue. I double-checked the Start 11 settings but couldn't find a specific setting that addressed the taskbar grouping. Now I'm wondering if the resolution was just luck or if there's something I overlooked altogether.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. That fact that you can load setting from another save setting from different system, show that something in your original setting was not set properly/differently that those other systems. From what I know the setting for taskbar grouping only available when Enhance taskbar turn on and how you set the "Taskbar button appearance" do note that there is a setting in there where you can totally hide taskbar button text. Which will make you combine or not combine taskbar button look the same without text.

Thank you.

Hi,
I am a (not so) little bit ashamed.  On a PC with a newly installed OS, I had an enhanced taskbar turned on but I never clicked the "Configure enhanced taskbar" button. So, I never saw all the settings (including the ones for button combining). I was looking elsewhere for these settings (multiple times) but here...
I sincerely apologize for stealing your time so unnecessarily.

Thank you, Lado
