As the political landscape continues to evolve, so does The Political Machine 2024. The latest update, v1.11, is here, and it’s packed with changes that directly address player feedback, game quality, and balancing. Here’s a look at the highlights of this update.

Core Improvements
The core of this update focuses on refining the gameplay experience and ensuring a balanced and fair political battleground. One of the standout changes is the enhancement of the No Card Mode, which now includes War Room and Endorsement functionalities. This adds a new layer of strategy without overwhelming players with cards, catering to those who prefer a streamlined experience.

Balance changes have also been a major focus. To curb overpowered strategies and excessive funds, significant adjustments have been made. Notably, there is now a War Room usage limit per turn, and the cost of operatives increases with each purchase. These changes promote a more diverse and balanced approach to political campaigning.

In addition to these gameplay changes, the custom candidate creator has received a substantial update. Players can now enjoy creating even more unique candidates with the addition of new parts, including various body, head, ear, eyebrow, nose, hair, glasses, eye, and mouth options. This enhancement allows for greater personalization and creativity.

Improved No Card Mode
The No Card Mode has seen significant improvements. War Room and Endorsements functionalities are now integrated, offering more strategic depth without the complexity of managing cards. Additionally, Political Capital and Political Capital Buildings have been re-enabled to account for Endorsements usage, ensuring a balanced approach.

Balance Changes
The balance changes aim to limit overpowered War Room strategies and manage funds more effectively. The War Room now has a usage limit per turn, and operative costs increase by 10% with each purchase. Various Political Action Cards have also seen their fund gains and boosts decreased, making it more challenging to accumulate excessive funds and promoting a more balanced financial landscape within the game.

Event Adjustments
Several events have been adjusted to ensure a more balanced gameplay experience. For instance, the Big Pharma Offer's accepting fund gain has been decreased, and the Mysterious Photographer's base cost option spend has been increased. These changes ensure that events provide a balanced challenge and reward structure.

New Custom Candidate Creator Parts
The custom candidate creator has received a substantial update, allowing players to further personalize their candidates with a variety of new parts. These enhancements allow for greater creativity and personalization, making the game even more engaging and enjoyable.

Gameplay Adjustments and Quality of Life Improvements
Several gameplay adjustments and quality of life improvements have been made to enhance the overall experience. Players can now seamlessly transition from a Primaries win to a Presidential game. The issue where randomized issues persisted between games has been fixed, and the War Room tutorial has been updated to reflect the new changes. Additionally, events that give cards will no longer appear in No Card Mode, and the HQ visual duplication glitch has been fixed.

The Political Machine 2024 v1.11 update is a testament to the developers’ commitment to listening to player feedback and continuously improving the game. Whether you’re a seasoned political strategist or a newcomer, these changes promise a more balanced, engaging, and enjoyable experience. So, gear up and dive back into the political fray with these exciting updates!

Hello.

Here are my thoughts on more improvements for Political Machine 2024.

You need to overhaul the candidate attributes.

Please restore old attributes like credibility, integrity, fundraising prowess, comeliness, minority appeal and religious appeal to add more flavour to the game.

Also, you need to reexamine the intelligence of some of the candidates. Here are my comments on Steam:

You underestimate the intelligence of several candidates. Clinton was one of the smartest Presidents ever, both academically and politically. He is an alumnus of Georgetown, Oxford, and Yale Law School. Even his opponents recognise him as the defining political genius of his generation. You have him at “sharp”.

Pete Buttigieg is even smarter. Almost impossibly smart. Knows eight languages. Triple major in English Literature, History and Theology from Harvard and Philosophy, Politics, Economics degree from Oxford, plus served as a Naval Intelligence officer. You have him at “average”.

Jimmy Carter graduated as a nuclear submarine engineer from the US Naval Academy. He could run a nuclear submarine. What more do you want? You have him at “sharp”.

Years ago, you listed AOC as “dim”. She is not a bimbo. She won a prize at an Intel National Science Fair as a teenager and graduated with honours from Boston University. She is very articulate and savvy.

That's just the Democrats you've undercounted.

You have Dwight David Eisenhower at 'basic' intelligence. Eisenhower? The Supreme Allied Commander who organised and planned Operation Overlord, known as D-Day? Who had to manage personalities like Winston Churchill and Montgomery? Who led a capable Administration with multiple domestic accomplishments like infrastructure, NASA and the National Defense Education Act?

Richard Milhous Nixon, whom I think was a terrible President, was a genius. JFK respected him for his intellect. Kissinger worked very well with him. They were both brilliant minds.

While George W Bush did strike many as a lightweight, he was more than ‘Basic’. And his father was more than average. Bush Senior was very competent.

Ted Cruz should also be classified as exceptional. He was a Princeton debate champion. And I loathe Ted Cruz.

That being said, you need to look at the media bias. The media liked Bill Clinton. And the media was rooting for John Kerry and respects him. And you need to look at charisma. Gore was reserved during the campaign.

Please reexamine the game play changes. The new changes are too restrictive. We should be able to hire more than one operative per turn, and should be able to raise a little more money. Maybe you can adjust the headquarters to give candidates more flexibility in War Room hiring and fundraising.

We need more endorsements. National Association for the Advancement of  Coloured People, Evertyown for Gun Safety, the National Rifle Association, and the Federalist Society should all be included alongside other organisations. We could also do with newspaper and magazine endorsements, and interviews and press conferences.

Also, we need more issues included in the game, like the child tax credit, cancellation of medical debt, funding science, Taiwan, Project 2025, prosecuting January 6th rioters, etc.

I'm so glad to see more new candidate parts being added still. I offered some suggestions in the feedback thread here. I still need to investigate the update.

I assumed Stardock was intentionally trying to move away from references to real life organizations.

I definitely think these would all be good issues to add!

What specific suggestions did you offer in the feedback thread regarding the addition of new candidate parts?

Thank you for asking.

I would like to see at least two items from the previous game's customization restored: the "Furrowed" eyebrows and the 'Generic 1' mouth. (Using names from TPM2008-2016) These are the ones I really really want; I think the old 'Shirt and Tie' body would also be super duper useful. I also wouldn't mind seeing the LBJ 'Old' head shape, which I found quite funny, the 'Flat 1', 'Round 2' and 'Long' noses and 'Gentlemans' Chops' ears, but the first three requests are ones I used on dozens of custom candidates, I can live without the others. I made this guy specifically to illustrate some of these parts.

Finally, I don't expect this to be implemented but I loved the import/export feature on the candidate editor; it helped sometimes in editing to start with one of the finished candidate models and tweak it to my liking to create a new candidate instead of always starting from the same generic guy.

I wrote this before the recent update and have not played as much recently but I do know for sure the 'Furrowed' eyebrows are not back.
