Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe this was reported before. It only happen if you turn on Show running application on my dock, yes? Hopefully it get sort out on the next version release.

Yes, it did have some effect, but comparing the two pictures, I didn't open the settings at all, and the calculator at all

Yes, as I said this was reported before, the are strange icons show up which was not running at all.
