XP freezing with WindowBlinds

I just uninstalled WindowBlinds, and my computer freezing problem stopped. AOL and Outlook were mainly the programs freezing. When I called up an e-mail in AOL, it would hang. Have I wasted $50 in buying Stardock's programs...or is there a fix???

Yes, dump AOL and find another, I had nothing but the same trouble until I went to Earthlink.

It isn't Xp doing that. You should go into WB and set a per app exclusion for AOL. I am guessing you are using AOL 9? WB does not work well with that version, or 8 either. Just try that and it should fix the problem.

Since I avoid AOL like the plague I can't offer more than an educated guess, but here goes. If the version of AOL that you use has custom drawn windows you will need to do as digital_k suggested and create a per-app exclusion for it. This pertains to any app that draws it's own windows as WB will be unable to properly skin that app. WinAmp and Dreamweaver are two apps that I always exclude due to this issue.

Good Luck!

I have AOL on my computer and Windowblinds with no problems. No problems with Outlook either. AOL v9 just didn't skin with windowblinds, so I went back to v8. No problems other than that. I think you have other issues.

It freezes XP for me too, without either AOL or Outlook. I can be doing the most basic task like switching to a window or resizing a window and it hangs. Fortunately XP recovers into safemode, but it''s getting ridiculous.

It only happens when the Winstyles is running. Definitely a waste. Perhaps in a few more versions this software will be acceptable, but right now I''m finding bugs left and right on an otherwise perfectly stable and flawless system.

If your having freezing issues....I used to have one with IE6 without any Stardock program installed and it turned out to be I needed to update the drivers to my video card....problem was solved

Your problem isn''t windowblinds and not XP. I have windowblinds and AOL and Outlook and windowblinds runs like a dream. I even have object running perfectly now. Winsytles also works like a dream. But, if you run other GUI hacking programs and then try to run windowblinds, I can imagine your horrors. You might also try fixing your orphan files in the registry. Registry problems would cause your system to freeze or lock up. Try spybot. It''s free. Memory problems could also caue a system to freeze. Good Luck.
