Malware in Deskscapes 11?

from Stardock Forums

I tried to install Deskscapes 11 through Object Desktop and my anti-virus (SurfShark) would not allow it. It reported that it contains malware:

Drop.Win32.WinSelfCopy.5200

Drop.Win32.RegStartupSelfCopy.31103122

Please advise.

To check it, go to your account page : https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products Download Deskscapes 11 from there. Install it do your AV software still reporting same thing? If so, I believe, it is safe to say, it is false positive.

I downloaded both v11 and v11-beta. Neither one installs. I see the progress bar appear, it gets about 1/3 of the way through, and then the window just closes.

I do not see any messages in the windows event logs.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. The purge is to remove all traces for the previous failed installation. Reboot after the purge. Re-download the latest version from your account page. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I repeated what I did with Fences - I went into System Configuration and chose to do a Safe Boot. After re-booting, I was able to run the Purge and then re-install Deskscapes.
